How to Join
Most members join our Union through an apprenticeship. Apprentices earn while they learn, getting paid for every hour they work while they are learning their trade. Apprentices follow a formal, rigorous course of training, both on the job and in the classroom. Upon completion of their apprenticeship, they get the training, wages, benefits and respect that only a union job can provide.
All new members must take a skill evaluation, pay an initiation fee, and be placed at a wage level and status based on their experience and abilities. They may be placed in our apprenticeship program; at the very least, they’ll be encouraged to take specific training classes to fill gaps in their experience and gain required certifications.
The Carpenters Union and apprenticeships are open to all. We do not discriminate based on race, color, creed, national origin, gender, marital status, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability or status with regard to public assistance.
